Heard at Career Transition Workshop-Dallas, 2/15/10

Session 6 SEARCH MANAGEMENT Learn to include both pro-active and re-active job search techniques to attack the public and hidden job markets.  Scripture says, 'Be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time'.
  • Reactive job search is like whack-a-mole game, waiting and watching a waste of time
  • Better mind set--put PEP in your step
  • Re-active / Pro-active
  • Efficient  / Effective [measure results, not routine]
  • Activity   / Productivity
  • Target your efforts to find the problem to find the opportunity to find the job
  • Hidden job market 4X bigger than open job positions
  • Target is different than opportunities
  • Only 15% of jobs found through recruiters
  • Recruiters serve neither the client or the candidate, but the clock.
  • Work my network
  • Miracles are impossible things becoming possible
