Session 11 WIN-WIN NEGOTIATIONS

Discover the art and science of salary negotiations. Realize the full potential of the "benefits" side of the equation.

  • You don't get what you want, you get what you are valued
  • You don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate
  • Very hard to make up salary gains if start too low going into the job
  • Be careful that the flower of victory for wages doesn't carry seeds of future defeat
  • Win the war for work and don't lose the battle for the bucks
  • "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, Isaiah 1:18
  • If you have NO leverage with the hiring authority you probably need to take the offer as is
  • Whoever is being chased has more leverage
  • You have more leverage if you can walk away from the offer
  • Being employed provides leverage
  • Do you know your values:
    • Target Value
    • True Market Value
    • Threshold Value
  • How much are you worth
    • Time = $$
    • Knowledge = Power
    • Power = Work/Time
    • Knowledge = Work
    • $$ = Work/Knowledge
  • Balance need vs. Greed
  • "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." 1 Timothy 6:10
  • The better fit you are for the position the higher the target value can be
