Session 2 CAREER CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES


Learn basic decision models designed to simplify the complex choice of "Now what?"
  • Determining your destination
    • Avoid 4 Us- Uninvolved/Unclear/Undecided/Unfocused
  • Why you must have singular focus in job search
    • Exercise test- While seated lift right leg and move foot clockwise.  And same time with right hand make the number 6 in the air.
  • Job search is counter-intuitive
  • Chinese proverb-If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.
  • Choices create consequences
  • 90% of problems are decisions we are unwilling to make
  • Better to do something imperfect than nothing perfectly
  • You miss 100% of the shots (choices) we don't make
  • Short-term gain = long-term pain
  • Short-term pain = long-term gain
  • X marks the spot for your ideal job
    • eXcellence/eXcitment/eXperience
  • The shortest distance between a job seeker and a job is through another person
  • 3 C's factor:  Community/Career/Compensation
  • Distance yourself as distinct
  • Hiring authorities are not interested in how you are like everyone else, but what makes you unique
  • Lives of great men all remind us
