  • Emotions of demotion
  • Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it
  • The only thing we learn from history is we don't learn from history
  • Unexamined life is not worth living
  • Goal is not to get a better job, but a better life
  • Inside motivation needs to be greater than outside rejection
  • If you don't know where you are going any path will do
  • Severance is the passage of promise
  • Opportunity in transition for true transformation
  • In life loss is inevitable, growth is optional

  • Three strands to job search/life
    • vocational = seeking employment
    • psychological = seeking self-significance
      • Death is universal, everyone dies
      • Life is not universal, not everyone choose to live
    • spiritual = seeking divine direction
  • Who are you & what are you doing here
  • Denial often masquerades as busyness
  • Addiction is anything done to avoid dealing with feelings
  • Expression of feeling is beginning of healing
  • Takes two people for reconciliation, only one for forgiveness
  • Fear is spelled:
    • False
    • Expectations
    • Appearing
    • Real
  • Failure is the opportunity to begin again-Henry Ford

  • Grieving is a process, not an event
  • First role of leader is to define reality
  • Your outlook will shape your outcome
  • Pace yourself during job search, going up like a rocket can have you come down like a rock
  • Singular focus = singular campaign
