Greetings, A few years back, one of our regulars was on a drive with a friend, and he kept talking about what he had learned from two books. The driver finally looked him in the eye, and said: "I know your schedule. You have not had time to read both of these books." The man admitted that he was currently reading them, but he was able to talk about them so clearly because of his "little secret." That "little secret" was the First Friday Book Synopsis. At our monthly event, we choose books with valuable and useful insight -- transferable principles that teach you something new, remind you of what you have neglected, and point you toward a more effective and successful future. February will add to your wisdom and knowledge bank... There are a handful of authors that, when we hear they have a new book coming out, the heart just pumps a little faster. We know, because their earlier books have been so valuable, that a new book from such an author holds great and valuable promise. Daniel Pink is such an author. His earlier books: Free Agent Nation, A Whole New MInd, and Drive, have all added to our business wisdom for these changing times. This new book does not disappoint! On February 1, I will present my synopsis of Mr. Pink's book: To Sell is Human: The Surprising Truth about Moving Others (Riverhead Hardcover. December 31, 2012). And Karl Krayer will present his synopsis of Metaskills: Five Talents for the Robotic Age by Marty Neumeier (New Riders. 2012). In this era of talent wars, and job and career insecurity, this book will help us all better understand which skills will be most valuable in the coming years. Come join us on February 1, 2013. You'll be glad you did.
