Did you get your 'pink slip' phone call yet?

Does anyone in the 21st century get a 'pink slip'?  I never saw one, but I have been told in person, by message or by phone call that my services were no longer needed. At least it wasn't by email, this time was a phone call from the hiring authority with 10 days notice that some would be let go soon.

So I am looking right now for my best next opportunity right now.  And so is my wife.  She lost her job on Dec 31st.

During this transition period I will do many things, post resume on job boards, network, go to networking meetings, etc.  Been there, done it too many times.

[Sidebar:  One surprising development was posting my resume on Scribd.com.  It has been viewed over 500 times with several downloads.  What's helpful is that scribd shows how the resume is searched which are clues how people are looking for my talent.  Then I add more 'tags' to increase the opportunity to be found.  Just do a google search on 'resume for Doug Caldwell'.  I am at the top of the Google page.  Neat.]

I am going to use a lot more of Web 2.0+ stuff to get attention for my 16th Minute of being famous; conduct video conference job networking meetings, using video email to reply to others and posting more to social networking websites [Facebook, FriendFeed, Twitter, etc.]  Join me on the journey of finding my best next opportunity, you might be get lucky as well.  Luck = opportunity + preparation.
