Reducing my COBRA payments will stimulate the Caldwell household

No, not this kind of cobra.  Although when we pay $900 a month for continuing my wife's employer-provided health care coverage I feel like one bitten by that cold-blooded creature. The other kind of C.O.B.R.A. just sucks out a whole lot more money.  She was paying less than $200 a month before her layoff and now we have to pay the whole thing to have health insurance.  Loss of income from one spouse and 450% increase in health care costs.  What a bite!!!!

What got my attention today was a Dallas Morning News story that..."Texans who lost jobs after Sept. 1 could keep their employer-sponsored health insurance, with the government paying 65 percent of the cost." as described in the story about the stimulus package now going through Congress.  By reducing our health care insurance costs, we can last longer looking for new jobs. [I get laid off 2/6/09.].

Congress and the President can spend billions and billions which will add up to some real money.  I could sure use some of my money back to reduce health care insurance costs.
